Then and now
How it has changed

Eco Greens sells grow kits for microgreens from Norwich. Each kit holds seeds, a germination mat, a biodegradable tray and step by step instructions. We built the first site in 2019 and have redesigned it twice since.
2019, a site about microgreens
The first site explained microgreens before it sold anything. Articles on broccoli, radish and kale microgreens sat on the home page, above four steps to getting started. Discover, order, free delivery and enjoy.

Until 2026, a shop first
Then the grow kit took the lead. “Order your grow kit” sat in the header and a basket followed you round the site. It ran on a premium theme from 2019 with two slider plugins and a page builder. By 2026 WordPress was three years behind.

2026, a tray that grows towards you
The shop now runs on a theme written for Eco Greens alone. Fresh white and soft sage, plum headings and a plum footer with sprouts along its edge.
The home page opens on a grow tray drawn in code. It holds six bands of microgreens, one for each kit. Seeds sit on the soil. Then shoots push up in a wave across the tray and open their leaves, which are drawn from the logo’s leaf. Your pointer is the sun. Every shoot leans towards it. A plant marker in front of each band links to that kit.

The mixed kit lets you pick your seeds with buttons in each variety’s colour. The basket count in the header updates as you add a kit. The basket and checkout match the rest of the site and work well on a phone.

What we kept
- Every kit, price, photo and product description.
- The logo with its plum and leaf green.
- PayPal checkout, customer accounts and every past order.
- The blog with all its posts.
Under the bonnet
- WordPress and WooCommerce brought up to date and tested before the switch.
- Old plugins switched off, among them two sliders with known security holes.
- Posts built with the old page builder read cleanly without it.
- Anyone who prefers less movement on screen sees the tray fully grown and still.
